I went into my living room to find my dog busily typing away on my laptop. He briefly looked up at me and exclaimed, “This is fascinating!” And then again, he was busily typing away.
I laughed a little and asked him, “What is so fascinating?”
He told me he had been researching the “Green” family’s genealogy and found out that we had a very colorful family history. He said his ancestors came over on the Mayflower, were war heroes, desperados in the wild, wild west, were related to Elvis Presley and had been the ones who invented “chewing gum.” He then jumped up and hugged me and thanked me for our “noble” bloodline and that he would dedicate the rest of his life living up to the family name.
I patted him on the head and was heart-broken to have to make the revelation. I sat him down and looked deeply into his eye. “Your mother and I wanted to wait until you were older, but I think, I think…now is the time. You are adopted…”
I heard an audible gasp and then big doggie tears followed. I tried to help him adjust to the news and after 3 T-bone steaks, medium well, not too pink (that’s his favorite) he seemed to be feeling like his old self again!
